Converting - Formating - Sizing your video

Preparing a good Highlight Film is an important ingredient to your successful use of the MyGameFilm.com system.

Making and Optimizing Your Highlight Film:

MyGameFilm is designed to accept the most common and popular digital video formats which include the following;   .MPG,   .AVI   and   .WMV.  If you can create your Highlight Film in any of the above, simply "UPLOAD" it through the registered user area.  Be sure to "VIEW" it to ensure it's what you want the Coach to see. If your not satisfied with what you see, simply upload a new one, which will replace the existing one.
You may already have the tools to make an acceptable video, a camcorder, most web cams, digital cameras, and even cell phones have video recording features and the ability to upload to your computer.
Don't forget that many schools (Coaches) can supply you with a copy of of the games in which you've played, typically on CD or DVD.

How do I edit my video?

Many computers come with some sort of video editing application already installed, or available to you from their websites, such as Apple iMovie or Microsoft Movie Maker. Using these programs, you can easily edit your videos, add soundtracks, change the file type, compress the file size, etc.

What other software is available to create my video?

There are also more advanced and flexible editing programs available for purchase in stores or online download. We encourage you to look around and find the editing software that's right for you.
Making a good selection can simplify the task by supporting the capture of video from nearly all common media, including CD's, DVD's and most capture cards as well as many USB and Firewire devices.
Be cautious in your selection since "video production/editing software" is a hot market. Many companies make great claims, but their products are immature and "bug ridden".
While we will not endorse any third party product, the more reputable software companies frequently offer a "Free Trial" for typically 30 days, without superimposing watermarks, advertisments or troublesome restrictions.
Such a product is the ULEAD VIDEOSTUDIO software which we have used and found to be very powerful, understandable and effective.

What if my video is not in one of the acceptable computer formats ?

It's possible for you to have a video on CD or DVD or even TAPE that is in an unacceptable format. If your video isn't in one of the "standard" computer formats above, you will need to convert, and/or "RIP" it into your computer using one of the many products available for that purpose and in the case of an analog tape or earlier camcorder you will likely require a capture card or one of the many USB or Firewire devices intended for that purpose as well as software to support the capture.

Some of the capture cards/devices come with software, otherwise the ULEAD VIDEOSTUDIO software mentioned above can help you handle most capture challenges from tape, CD's and DVD's.

How long/large can my Highlight Film be?

MyGameFilm.com requires a maximum length of a highlight film to be under three (3) minutes approximately 30 MB.
